A natural stretch is better than static stretches after a run
Posted by GJC
Ideally your calfs have been relaxed during the run so shouldn't need too much stretching. But a great way to stretch your calfs naturally is to walk up or climb a steep incline, such as an embankment of hill, after a run. If you're on the treadmill put the incline up to maximum and walk for a few minutes focusing on relaxed legs.
Runners often don't pay attention when doing a static calf stretch after a run and do it incorrectly. By walking or climbing (ideally in minimalist shoes or barefoot) your calfs are stretched naturally.
